Can someone point me to a URL or Jaguar documentation that explains how to
create a service under Jaguar? I have a third party messaging service that
I would like to make available to the clients. It makes a lot of sense to
make this a service so the time involved in opening the communication with
the third party server is only incurred while Jaguar is coming up.

Bud,

This is documented very well in the programmers guide. (Chapter 20,
"Creating Service Components" )

Thank for responding so fast Scott. I think you have identified my problem.
I couldn't find a Programmer's Guide or any Sybase book with 20 chapters in
it. Is this a separately ordered document? I am looking in a box that is
titled "Sybase Enterprise Application Server".

Bud,

You should be able to find it online under the HTML subdirectory. Or start
jaguar and connect to your as http://myServerName:8080

Hopefully that will help you find it.

I found it Scott, though it is Chapter 10 in my User Guide (CTS Version 3).
It look like just what I needed. Thank you for being patient.

Implement the following methods and then list the package/component in
com.sybase.jaguar.server.services under all properties for the Jaguar
service.

void run()
void start()
void stop()
