Hi,

Trying to be short, we performed a load test against EAS 3.5/NT and here is
what we got:

Case A.
Initial condtions :
1. one Jaguar
server - using connection cache/instance pooling/stateless components
2. retrieve from
Sybase Adaptive Server via Open Client
3. preparing the
data for update
4. update in
Sybase via Open Client
5. users: 150
6 timing:
few seconds for each process/client

Results : Like a rock !!

Case B.
Initial conditions :
1. one Jaguar
server - using connection cache/instance pooling/stateless components
2. retrieve from
Sybase Adaptive Server via Open Client
3. preparing the
data for update
4. update in
Sybase Adaptive Server via Open Client
>> 5. users: 210
6 timing:
few seconds for each process/client

Results : Open Client Error : can not
handle this many users (ct-library, network API Calls )
Question: Any work around will be much
appreciated !!

Case C.
Initial conditions :
1. one Jaguar
server - using connection cache/instance pooling/stateless components
2. retrieve from
Sybase Adaptive Server via Open Client
>> 3. retrieve from
AS400/DB2 via ODBC/IBM Client Access
4. preparing the
data for update
5. update in
Sybase Adaptive Server via Open Client
6. users: 70
7. timing:
few seconds for each process/client

Results : The server gets hanged
on a function call against ODBC/DB2 connection cache (works fine for 40
users)
Question: Any professional advice
??

Thanks in advance,
Vali Radoi

P.S. Problems with DPB made us watch out.

What is your upper bound on the connection cache?

Did you possibly exceed database licenses? The error message appears
to be different but...

What were the runtime monitoring numbers for the connection cache
after the second test? Would you mind posting them?
