Having happily created several IM5/16-bit reports with retrieval arguments,
I'm suddenly unable to do so. Selecting the Design -> Retrieval
Arguments... menu will let me type in name(s), select type(s) and click OK,
but when trying to use them - ie right-clicking in the Where tool, the
Arguments... menu point is greyed out. Going back to the Retrieval
Arguments... menu confirms that there are none defined - it happily asks
for number 1 again!

OK, I have tried to download the 5.0.04 update and install it. No change. I
grapped an existing report complete with Retrieval Arguments and tried to
modify it. No avail. Going in to "SQL" mode nukes the Retrieval Arguments.
As of 5 hours ago. No warning, no errors.

Is there ANYONE out there with ANY idea of what to do? I have a deadline
for a complex report next week, and stress levels are high!

Thanking you in advance for any and all constructive suggestions...

Cheers

Bernhard

You are not alone. I too have had the same thing happen. This has
happened on and off with no predictable pattern since day one. I just
recently got IM6 and it too has the same problem. I have found that it
is more apt to happen when I add, or remove, retrieval arguments to an
existing report. Very annoying. Sometimes shutting IM down and
restarting will clear things up.

I've never come across this problem in IM5/32, IM6/32.

I'm currently running IM5/16 and IM6/16. I wonder what the original
post is running.

I've never seen anything like that. Did you install any new software
recently?
I would try creating a new pbl and then copying (not moving) the reports
into that pbl. If that fixes it, your pbl got corrupted somehow.
If that fails, reinstall IM5 and then reapply the IM5.0.04 patch.
