Hello,

We are currently migrating from InfoMaker 5 to InfoMaker 6 and are having some
problems with our network installation. Since this is a network install we
want to use the IM.INI in each users home directory, in IM 5 that was easy
you just added the INITPATH statement to your WIN.INI file but how do you do
this on IM 6 on a Windows NT 4.0 Workstation?

Thanks,

What I do:
One user I install directly to the network using the Infomaker setup
program. Then I create the following registry entries (modify for your own
paths):

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Powersoft\PowersoftHelp\inipathsForHelp]
"IM60"="I:\\Infomaker6\\im6"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Help]
"imhlp60.hlp"="I:\\Infomaker6\\im6\\help"
"imwel60.hlp"="I:\\Infomaker6\\im6\\help"
"imans60.hlp"="I:\\Infomaker6\\im6\\help"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App
Paths\im60.exe]
"Path"="I:\\Infomaker6\\shared;I:\\Infomaker6\\im6"
@="I:\\Infomaker6\\im6\\IM60.EXE"

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Powersoft\InfoMaker]

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Powersoft\InfoMaker\6.0]
"InitPath"="c:\\pwrs\\im6"

On the local PC I create a c:\pwrs\im6 directory into which I copy the
im.ini
Create a shortcut to im060.exe.

From Document ID 47702, Installing PowerBuilder 6.0 On A Network:

"Step 4: Move the PB.INI to everyone's local machine:

In order for each user to have their own PB.INI file the following setting
would need to be changed. Run PowerBuilder and in the application painter
select the menu item "FILE". Under that item is the item "PowerPanel". This
will bring up a dialog box listing all the painters. Select "SystemOptions"
near the bottom of the list. Under the "GENERAL" tab, change the
initialization path to point to a directory common to everyone's computer.
Such as "c:\" or "c:\windows".

Note: This is the same for InfoMaker. Replace the PB.INI reference with
IM.INI.
