I'm having a very frustating problem. Ocassionally when I am creating a
report with
retrieval arguments, the retrival arguments disappear. I can go back
and enter the
retrival argument again, but once again it disappears. Sometimes if I
shut down IM5
I can get the function to work properly, but many times I can get the
retrieval arguments
to stay unless I reboot my machine. Any ideas on what is going on?

I was having this problem on a regular, but erratic basis for a while.
It seemed to occur in conjunction with a complex of bizarre effects,
where
-the report bands would collapse to zero height when the report was
previewed, so that nothing showed:
-then when I went back to edit, all of the controls would have slipped
several centimetres down their band, so I had to open the band up to
find them again,
-the edit screen would refuse to accept any more controls,
-I couldn't select multiple controls,
-and some controls would change to background colour whenever thy were
selected..
Sometimes rebooting would fix it, but I think that was just an aspect of
the intermittency of the problem. And it seemed to happen more often in
the afternoon, but I may be over-reading the signs there, I'm not very
good at afternoons myself.
Anyway.... I normally leave CCMail and Lotus Organiser open while I
work. I discovered by accident that if CCMail and Organiser weren't
loaded, none of the problems would occur, so I figure it's some memory
use conflict.
I haven't had the problems anyway since we switched to WIN95 and the
32-bit version of IM.

What maintenance version are you running (5.0.01, 5.0.02, 5.0
out-of-the-box) and is this 16 bit?

The other thing is are you changing the child definition (adding or
changing arguments) after you've placed the child in the parent report?
The nest_arguments attribute of the parent is set when you assign the
child. If you later add or delete arguments, it's not in-sync with the
parent. In general, we tell customers to re-place their child reports.
In general, PB gets the current child dataobject from the PBL but the
piece that ties parent to child is static.

16 bit 5.0.03.35 .

It only occurs when I am adding another argument to an existing report.
I have areport with argument A. I then want to go back and add argument
B. I open the
report add argument B and click on OK I then go back to check on the
the
arguments and both A and B are gone. Once the arguments are gone, I
can't add any arguments since they just disappear. I've tried shutting
down IM5 and restarting, but but that doesn't help. If I reboot my
machine then I can go ahead and then replace the
original argument and add the new argument too.

I would report this as a bug to PS. I found one hit in the infobase
(#404130) that mentions this problem too. If you can send PS the report in
question, it might help them in identifying the problem.
