Hello

Yesterday I was sent a reply which outlined two ways of eliminating
duplicate records in Infomaker 4.0 reports.
The first way was to select DISTINCT from the SQL menu options, but that
option is greyed out and not available to me. The second suggestions
was to create a group and move the fields from the detail band to the
group band, and I am not clear on how to do that.

Thank you for your help.

Nicole

Dave Bolt already showed the Query Governor.

The basic steps to take to do this in the report:
- create a tabular report
- on the report define a sort based on a unique identifier (Rows, Sort)
- then create a group based on this unique identifier (Rows, Create Group)
you will now see new bands on your report
- move all your fields to the trailer or footer band for that group.

I suggest you take a look at the 'Getting Started' manual and check out the
chapters that deal with reporting and querying.

To get the capability of putting a DISTINCT clause on your SELECT statement;
do the following in InfoMaker.

1) Right click on the toolbar. Select Customize.
2) Add the Query Govenor icon to your toolbar.
3) Exit the customize screen and click the govenor icon.

You can turn on various features of Infomaker which are by default turned
off. Each of these features when employed can cause an additional processing
load on the server. InfoMaker tries to allow control of "expensive" database
operations by doing this.
