All,

I would appreciate any insight into the very frustrating error
that I am continuing to get:

I have created an executable using InfoMaker 5.0.3 and it works
just fine on my local drive.

The frustration is that it will not connect to the database from
any other users computer.

I have installed the InfoMaker Distribution Kit and copied the
executable and its .ini file to the users Program Files directory
and created a shortcut for it.

The login window pops up when I run it so it is executing, but the
same errors is generated no matter what I try:

Database Connect Failed. Application cannot be run.

I have tried setting and resetting the PATH, relocating the executable
and .DLLs into various directories, but still cannot get it to work.

If anyone has some tips, please send me email.

Thanks and have a great Thanksgiving.

Steve

Im having the same problem. In Infomaker, I'm connecting to a Sybase
database with native drivers. Doesn't the exectuable use the same driver. It
is present in the path.

Can you repost? We had a bug in exe creation (fixed in 5.0.04
PBAPL050.DLL) which hard-coded the location of the ini into the
executable.

IE: if you created the exe in c:\testing\test.exe, you could only
deploy in the same directory (it would be looking for the ini file in
c:\testing only.)

Workaround: Don't allow a qualified path (c:\testing\test.exe) in the
exe creation dialog - instead use "test.exe" only then try running or
deploying again.

Short of that, if you're using 5.0, it could be a path issue.

ftp://ftp.powersoft.com/pub/private/pbpatch/infix_32.zip or imfix_16.zip

is the patch.. Also, if you get 5.0.04, this will also be fixed along
with the "Saved" settings problem in the environment painter.

Did you install ODBC / Native drivers and the appropiate middleware (e.g.
SQLNET when using Oracle).?
When using ODBC, did you configure the datasource?
Is the deployment kit in the search path?
