Help!
I keep getting an error message whenever I run certain reports.
The error is: IM050 caused an exception 10H in module PBBGR050.DLL at
0137:10f3b795.

I am able to re-create this error whenever I run the report, however, If
I first execute a different report in another
copy of IM running and then run this report, it runs fine.

Also, On my coworkers machine this same report runs fine with no errors.

I have heard several diagnosis for this problem ranging from a memory
issue to being an application issue.

If anyone has encountered an error such as this, or has any insight as
to what might fix this problem I
would greatly appreciate the help.

Thanks,
Jeffrey Batson

Hi Jeffrey,
Check to see what print drivers you are each using. Specifically there
have been problems with HP 5 and 6. Also, do you both have the same
version of IM?

HTH,
Jody LaPosta

I have been able to narrow down the cause of this problem to be someting
to do with Adobe Acrobat PDFwriter.
When I run the report with my Tektronix printer selected, it runs fine,
but when I try to print using the Acrobat PDFwriter it kills InfoMaker.
Also, if I have the PDFwriter selected as my default printer, it kills
InfoMaker in design mode before I ever get a chance to try to run the
report.
I use IM 5.0.03
I am also checking with Adobe right now to see if this is a known
problem with PDFwriter.

Any additional assistance anyone can give would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Some more insight to my problem:

I do have several printers attached to my PC, none of which is a HP
though.
The report dies not only when executed, but also when I try to go into
design mode.
And like I said, If I start a second session of IM, execute a different
query, and then come back and
execute the original report, it works fine.

I have had the desktop support technicians visit my PC several times,
and nobody understands how this could be
happening unless it is related to a bug in the IM software.

My coworkers also have IM 5 loaded onto their PC, and all are able to
run this report without any problems.

I am running IM version 5 with the 5.0.03 maintainence package loaded.

Please, if anyone can help, I am going crazy with this problem.
Thanks,
Jeff

Thanks

I confirm that this a print driver error. I had HP laserjet 6p drivers
installed, I now have installed the drivers for a Laserjet 4plus (as
default printer) and the problem with running my report was resolved. I now
have both drivers installed and only one printer. Yet I conclude that you
must run the report with the laser jet 4plus as the default printer under
Win95. Then change your printer selection after the report in run.

thanks again,

The HP drivers have changed between 4 and 5. There are some 'features'
that were added by either HP or Microsoft that cause lots of grief. I ran
into this recently when doing some advanced direct printer manipulation from
PB. I could print directly to a 5Si, but not an 3Si or 4Si (which is sort
of the reverse of what is happening to you).

What version are you using? 5.0.02, 03, 04?

If it's a simple report (not nested), try saving data inside the report
object by running in in the scenario that allows it not to GPF and in
design mode go into Rows/Data and do a Retrieve (same dialog) to
actually save retrieved data in the dataobject.

At this point, see if you can re-create the GPF again. If you can, and
still can in 5.0.03 or 5.0.04, it sounds like a bug that has not been
reported. This "saved data" report can be uploaded to us as a bug.

HI Stephen,

Jeff and I have this one down to these things so far.

1. PDF writer print drv settings for compression was too high for the graph
image.
lowering the compression was not always a sucess so number 2.

2. Instal a printer port named \DISTASST.PS , Install Adobe Proscript 4.1
driver,a distiller printer as file, Install all of Adobe Acrobat (minus
capture) and create printer \DISTASST.PS as default.

3. Installed PBDWE050.DLL 5.0.04

4. Print IM5.0.03 report thru Adobe distiller assistant (Exit when idle
off), leave distiller up and running.

Some of the Pie charts are resized alot, otherwise about the same, takes
longer to output .PDF file.

thank you for the interest,
and now that we know your name...
