I just got a copy of the Infomaker 6.0 update. I have infomaker 5.0
up and running and its hooked into an Oracle 7.1 database and it
connects with no problem.

I installed the update (16 bit version onto Win95) and the install
seemed to go fine (no errors) but when I try to set up the DB profile
to connect to the Oracle 7.1 database, the only verson of Oracle
listed on the DB profile screen is for Oracle 7.3.

If I select the 7.3 and click on the New button, I get some sort of
"Unable to connect...." message.

The manual says that Infomaker 6 will work with Oracle 7.1 and that it
needs the PBO7160W.DLL -- I searched my entire drive and could not
find the DLL -- I finally installed the Infomaker 6.0 16 bit
deployment kit thing (or whatever its called) and found the DLL there.
So now I have the DLL on my drive (I installed it to the default
directory) but still the only version of Oracle that is listed is the
7.3, and I still get the Unable to connect... error if I click on the
New button in the DB profile.

I've checked my path setting and it does list c:\shared and
c:\pwrs\shared, and the directory that the deployment kit thing went
to as well (that's where the PBO7160W.DLL is living)

My infomaker 5.0 install is still alive and kicking and connects just
ducky to the Oracle 7.1 database so I don't think the problem is on
the SQLnet end of this.

Anyone have any thoughts or Ideas?

I have a similar problem. With IM 5.0 and Oracle 7.1, I can connect
with no problem. With IM 6.0, I installed the Oracld 7.1 drivers, but
all I get is a message that the driver isn't installed. I also cannot
create a new connection.

Were you able to come up with a solution to this problem?

You need 32-bit sqlnet with IM6, which is a 32-bit product.

The DBMS of the profile dialog is an editable listbox. You should be
able to type in O71 but if you want Oracle 7.1 to show up automatically,
you can add it to the 'Vendors=' record in your IM.ini file.

If you still get this error after that, it's probably a pathing problem.
