I am having trouble with IM6 executables. I can create them with no
problem, but whenever I try to run them, I get a database prompt, then a
"Cannot connect to database" error. I have looked at a number of the
documents in the support area (441844, 438714, etc.) but have not been
able to correct the problem. Some of the documents refer to document
330991 as a workaround but I can't find it. I have Win95 OSR2, IM6, PB6,
Oracle 7.3, SQLPlus 3.3 all installed on the PC. I installed the
Deployment Kit also. I have tried copying the DK Dlls and INIs to the
directory the executable is in., modified the registry per Doc 438714,
nothing has worked. Any suggestions?

Check that the servername in the ini file is defined properly, i.e.
@alias_name (alias as defined in tnsnames.ora). If you are using Person
Oracle, the servername should be defined as @2:ORACLE_SID (and not the alias
name).
When using sqlnet 2.3, make sure to specify O73 as the database parameter in
the ini file.
SInce the exe is in the same directory as the deployment dll's, you don't
need to add a registry entry to point to the deployment dll's, but you must
have orawin95\bin in your path. Either add it to your autoexec.bat or to
the registry. Example:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App
Paths\your_im.exe]
@="d:\\data\\pb6_im6\\your_im.exe"
"Path"="d:\\data\\pb6_im6;c:\\program
files\\powersoft\\shared;c:\\orawin95\\bin"

The minimal required dlls are: pbvm60.dll, pbo7360.dll, pbdwe60.dll.

The servername in the ini file duplicates the IM ini file (@tns:ORACLE_SID), the
registry
has been modified and the path contains C:\ORAWIN95\BIN; still get cannot
connect to database error. Any other ideas?
