I am using IM5.0 with a SQL Server database. When I try to pipeline a
database using the append/insert rows command the destination database
always identifies every column type as varchar. However, the source
type is always correct. Just for testing purposes, I selected the
destination and source to be the same database, which only contained one
table. Once again, the source type was correctly displayed as int, char
ect... but the destination was incorrectly displaying every column as
varchar, even though they were identical tables. I haven't a clue how
to work around this or fix it, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Joe Handelsman

On the Data pipeline you can select the proper data type for the destination
by clicking on the fields in the Type Column. Basically, all the white
fields are user changeable (i.e. destination name, type, key, width etc,)

That wont work because i am trying to update a database and the type field
becomes grayed out. I have also found that i cannot view types with the
database painter.

Thanks

If your pipeline updates/inserts, it will use the existing datatypes. Even
though the types might not display properly, it should update the table
properly. If you need to change datatypes, you will have to use the replace
option.
