I recently posted that I cannot get the data type to display correctly
in the pipeline painter. Also, I have found that the data type doesn't
even display in the database painter. In the Alter Table screen I have
the data type field grayed out. Is there something that needs to be
done to my database? I am running MS Sql Server with infomaker 5.0

Thanks
Joe Handelsman

The database painter is generic and will not work properly with all
databases. Some databases actually don't allow you to change the datatype
of a column (which makes sense. I cannot change a varchar field to a
numeric one).
I would use the tools that come with the database to modify the structure.
Or you could use the database administration painter to write a sql
statement to alter your table.
