I'd like to simulate DISTINCT using datawindow filtering.
The technique is needed since 'distinctness' is determined by a subset
of the displayable columns.

e.g.
columns a & b are distinct but the user also needs to see for each row
non distinct columns c & d.

(supress repeating values is not acceptable since it doesn't remove
supress rows)

How'd you do this using a filter expression?

Is there another method you can suggest?

I don't understand what you are trying to accomplish. Let's say we have the
following data:
A B C D
1 2 3 4
1 2 3 5
1 2 4 5
2 2 2 2

What do you want to see? It sounds like you just want a group based on
columns A & B.
