Hello,
I want to create executables of my reports and deploy them on win95
clients. But when I copy the executables to a win95 and try to run them
it says it cannot find some dlls. I know that these dlls are common
Powersoft dlls pbrtf050.dll, pbbgr050.dll, pbshr050.dll, etc and they
are not installed on the client machine. In the release notes it says
that I nees to register the executables and create APP PATH to them so
that they can recognize the dlls. Is it right? Also even if I register
them, the dlls should be installed on the machine. So, how can I do
this? How can I register and create an APP PATH.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Betul

Hi Betul,
There is a chapter at the end of the PB User's Guide for 5.0 called
"Deploying your application on Windows." Look at this for specifics, but
in a nutshell, you need your exe and any pbds/dlls that you created with
it, the deployment kit, and any database connectivity files to be
accessible to the exe. They don't all need to be on the machine, as you
could choose to install some of them on the network. So for example, if
your exe is myapp.exe and you also have lib1.pbd, lib2.pbd in c:\appname;
you have the deployment kit in d:\pwrs\sys32 and you are using sql anywhere
and have the drivers installed to e:\sqlany50\win32, you would have an app
path entry as follows:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\AppPaths\myapp.exe

(Default) C:\appname\myapp.exe
Path C:\appname; d:\pwrs\sys32;e:\sqlany50\win32

Check out the app path on your machine for PB050.exe for an example.

HTH,
Jody LaPosta

I just finished solving the same problem with some help I might add. First
I suggest you download Tech Doc# 44579 from the sybase web site. I also put
into the autoexec.bat the directories: \sqlany50\win32, \pwrs\sys32
Good Luck , Jim
