Hi!

I have just installed IM v6. In the development mode my programs work
fine. I connect to my database and everything is OK. When I create an
executable and attempt to execute I am getting the error message
"Database connection failed. Application cannot be run".

I know that in deploying I need to install some dll's. I cannot find
anything in the manual about deploying IM v6.

Am I blind???

Thanks, Jim

Hi Jim,

Here are the steps to deploy IM executables:

1. Install IM deployment kit from the CD that comes with PowerBuilder. This
will install IM runtime DLLs and DB interface DLLs that enables exe file to
run.

2. Modify the system path on client workstation to point to the above
directory.

3. Configure client database connection.

This should work as I've just successfully implemented in my company. Hope
this helps.

Go to this site for more information.

You need a few dlls: pbvm60.dll, pbdwe60.dll, pb_your_db.dll, pbrtc60.dll.
These must be in the same directory as the executable, or you need to create
an app_path entry in the registry, e.g.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App
Paths\ora_dba6.exe]
@="d:\\data\\pb6_im6\\ora_dba6.exe"
"Path"="d:\\data\\pb6_im6;c:\\program files\\powersoft\\shared"

I put all but pb_your_db.dll in the directory that houses the executables. I
cannot find 'pb_your_db.dll' . Obviously it still does not work. I have the
distinct feeling that I should know what that dll is. I did a find and could not
find it.

Sorry if I wasn't clear. I meant with pb_your_db.dll the database specific
dll, e.g. pb07360.dll for Oracle 7.3 or pbmss60.dll for MS Sql server.

That would be the generic ODBC driver: pbodb60.dll
