My stored procedure consists of
OPEN cursor for
SELECT .........
FROM ( SELECT .......
FROM (SELECT ......
FROM ......
UNION
SELECT .....
FROM.....)
GROUP BY .... ) table1,
table2
ORDER BY..... ;

The nested SELECT works as stand-alone SQL and returns rows correctly.
When placed in the stored procedure to be used as a data source for
IM6.0, I get error message CANNOT CREATE DATAWINDOW... when I try to
have IM create the result set.

If I manually create the result set columns, I get an error trying to
retrieve the rows.

Is this too complicated for IM data source? Can you use nested
SELECTs in stored procedure to be used as data source?

THanks for any suggestions.

Ann Galbreath

What database and which driver are you using? Is this a standalone
procedure or is it within a package?

I get this same problem using MSSQL Server 6.5.

As a standalone procedure I get the error message CANNOT CREATE DATAWINDOW.
As part of a package, I get an 'invalid column name' error.

Can you post the complete sp? I found somebody who will try to debug it.
