Hi Guys,

Where a 2 digit year is entered as a date/datetime IM/PB uses its 50
year rule to identify the century. We would like to help our users have
the same validation where they may have entered a 2 digit year as a
string.
In PB we issue an ALTER SESSION statement to set the NLS_DATE_FORMAT to
DD-MON-RR immediately the transaction connects. Is there something we
can do for our IM users along the same lines?

If this is IM6, you can use PB to customize the imstyle6.pbl. I would add
this code to the w_pbstyle_logon window. Executables created with IM will
pick up this change.
If your users are running forms from within the IM environment, you will
have to add the code somewhere else, most likely the
w_pbstyle_frame_ancestor.

Thanks Terry. We're actually on 5.04 but a move to 6 is imminent. Until
then I _think_ there may be a solution that Oracle are looking into with
making tweaks to the 95/NT registry.

You can set the following entry in the registry:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE]
"NLS_DATE_FORMAT"="RRRR-MM-DD" or whatever format you prefer.

Terry,

Do you happen to know if this setting is valid for NT 3.51 (Citrix)?

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE] is a standard Oracle registry key. It
is the same on NT4 and W95. No reason why it wouldn't be on NT3.51.
Run regedit (easier to use than regedt32) and see if you have the key.
