Hi folks,

Infomaker 5.0.04 is crashing several times a day. I'am using NT 40, the
only clue maybe found in the fact that it happens when I use reports
with nested reports or the nested reports self.

Can you help me?

THanks in advance,
Marcel Winters

Are you by any chance setting a visisble expression on computed fields?
Can you give the exact error message?

I am using Infomaker 6.5, and my reports crash if I use nested reports.
There is no error message--the screen just turns white, and when I do a
Ctl-Alt-Delete the Task manager says Infomaker is not responding. I have
125 MG of RAM on my machine and my system resources are fine. The other
programmer has the same problem with nested reports.

16 or 32 bit 6.5? By nested, I want to make sure you mean a true nested
report (with a retrieval argument tied to the parent) and not a composite
report with "child" reports - also sometimes called a nested report but not a
true nest.

-Can you preview the individual nested reports in the main report (and
entering the retrieval args) without a GPF? It needs some isolation.

If you make a copy of this main report and start tearing out items (one nest
at a time, all the summary band objects, etc). Does there come a point when
it doesn't GPF?

-Do you have a printer defined for the user you're logged on as? (sometimes
nests disappear when there's no printer driver defined but this shouldn't
GPF).

The system first retrieves a detail row, then all the rows of the nest
associated with the detail row. Does it not even get this far? (check the
Microhelp at the bottom just as you click on retrieve.

I use Infomaker 6 on NT 4.0. When I attempt to run a nested report
Infomaker crashes. I have resorted to running the reports by themselves
(not while I am in the main report). I did not seem to have problems with
Infomaker 4 and NT 4, but when I move to Infomaker 6 it started. Kind of a
pain to have to run the nested reports by themselves, but it just doesn't
seem to work any other way. This doesn't help (aka a solution), but it
does show that you aren't the only one.
