I am working with one user who is attempting to access InfoMaker. She first
receives a message indicating that InfoMaker will create a default library.
She clicks on the "no" button to continue which prompts her to select the
appropriate library. She selects the library and receives an error
indicating that the library is not a valid library name. (I have verified
that she is accessing a PBL file that I delivered to her. It is a valid
library.) When she clicks on "ok" she then receives this error: "Need
valid vendor's name in order to continue". When she clicks on "ok" again,
she receives a "cannot connect to database" error. The vendor error is a
new one to me! Why would this be occurring? I did verify that she has a
valid library that she is accessing. I also reviewed her IM.INI file to see
if the default values were causing problems. Everything looked fine. She
is running InfoMaker 5.0.02 (which is the latest version that we use with
our software.)

Thank you!

Verify that the user has the proper database drivers configured (e.g.
SQLNET for Oracle, CTLIB for Sybase etc). Modify her IM.INI file to point
to one of these know to be good drivers to be the default when she
connects. You can use the im.ini file on your PC as example. Specifically
check the following sections
[database]

[DBMS_PROFILES]
CURRENT=PROD <-- change appropiately
Vendors=ODBC,O71 ORACLE 7.1,O72 ORACLE 7.2,O73 ORACLE 7.3 <-- Make sure
you have the valid vendor listed here.

[Application]
DefLib=C:\pwrs\Im5i32\Tutor_im.pbl <-- poin to a know good PBL
TempLib= <-- make it blank if it contains a value

[Profile PROD] <-- This is the section pointed to by the [DBMS_PROFILES]
Current setting

Verify that the pbl you gave her is not write protected.
Hope this helps.
