I'm trying to set up Infomaker with read only option to my MS_SQL database.

in MS-sql - I have a group with only select check on some of the tables and
revoke in Insert, del , upd.

I've setup a DB profile using this group and user name.

Infomaker 5.0 lets me delete, insert, update and select.

How do I stop this.

Tia

I'm not familiar with SQL Server, so I can't indicate what's wrong there.
But you can setup IM itself to be read-only. When you install IM, you can
choose not to install the DB / Form / Pipeline painters. This essentially
makes IM read-only.

I take it that this option is in the setup.exe or can I remove the function
once it is installed

It is in the setup. Run a custom setup.
