I have a pipeline that works in development, but when I make the exe and run
it, I get a message about source or destination missing from the ini file.

I looked in the ini file and didn't see any sections for source and
destination and I couldn't find any documentation on adding to my exe's ini
file.

I tried this with SQL Server 6.5 to Sybase SQL Anywhere. I also tried from
SQL Anywhere to SQL Anywhere.

I am running IM 6.0

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I wrote the code for this and FYI after you get through this there is the bug
that still exists in it. Someone will need to open up IMSTYLE6.PBL in
Powerbuilder and fix this for you if you're using the PBMSS driver..

Change #:
170908
Priority:
2
Old Change #:
Reported In:
InfoMaker-6.0.00
OS:
MS Windows NT 4.0

Fixed Version:

Description:

Infomaker exe with Pipeline using Sybase or MicroSoft 6.5 database results in
error:
Sybase SQL Server (SYC)- error: Incorrect syntax near "use";
Microsoft SQL Server 6.5 (MSS) - error: Invalid database name
In the InfoMaker environment, these pipelines execute fine, only in the .exe the
problem can be seen.

Other databases such as Oracle 7.3, 8.0 and SQL AnyWhere executed fine within
the exe.

September 25, 1998 - Stephen Dupre
This could happen if the MSS or SYC was either source or destination of the
pipeline.
This is a bug due to a mis-spelling in the Class Library IMSTYLE6.PBL that ships
with InfoMaker in
window w_pbstyle_pipeline in the open event:
i_src.Database=ProfileString(IniName,source_connect,source_connect,"") should be

i_src.Database=ProfileString(IniName,source_connect,"database","")

and for the desination connect:

i_dest.Database=ProfileString(IniName,destination_connect,destination_connect,"")
should be
i_dest.Database=ProfileString(IniName,destination_connect,"database","")

This should affect native drivers. The reason this doesn't affect Oracle is the
"database" setting in the profile
dialog is meaningless, in System 11 and MSS, it's used to change the default
database (that's why the "USE..."
error under the covers where the sqlca.database becomes useless in either the
source and destination.). Since
the InfoMaker exe reads from an ini file and there was a mis-spelling, it
affected these drivers.

There should be three sections in your ini file:
[database]
the regular stuff

[the_source_db]
DBMS=ODBC
Database=
UserId=
DatabasePassword=
LogPassword=
ServerName=
LogId=
Lock=
DbParm=ConnectString='DSN=powervw;UID=;PWD='
Prompt=0
AutoCommit=0

[the_destination_db]
similar to source one

I use IM 6.5 and it works fine for me. I tried SQLAnywhere to Oracle and
SQLAnywhere to SQLAnywhere.
