We have a client who would like to use a signature font cartridge from a
company called Standard Register on their HP printer for printing checks.
Does anyone know if it's possible to access a signature font cartridge from
an InfoMaker V5.0 report and if so how?

I tried sending an escape sequence to the printer using Char(27)... in a
computed field, but the printer did not recognize it as the start of an
Escape sequence when I printed it.

That's going to be a tough one. In Windows 95 you essentially cannot create
computed fields with printer escape sequences as you could in W3.1.
The only reliable way I can see, is by creating a global function, that
calls a little batch file that sends the escape sequence. ( IM computed
fields can call the global function, even though they are not visible in the
report painter.) The batch file would need just one line:
copy yourfile lpt1:
It requires that the printer is defined as a MS-DOS printer.
You cannot use a function that calls the printopen(), printsend() functions.
These functions are printer driver specific. I got them to work with an
HP5, but not with an HP III or IV for instance.
