I seem to be having problems printing to network printers (but only in IM so
far)

It might be due to our new network paths to the printer. They are quite long
and they recently changed. That's when the printing stopped working from IM.

IM does not show all the printers available in the printer setup box and
sometimes crashes when I select a networked printer. When the dialog box
for the pages it's printing pops up it goes away after only 1 page of
printing but nothing actually does get printed.

IM seems to have its own way of doing the printer setup dialog. (Non MS)

Any clues why I can not print?

One of the printer name's is:
\\Ahpnet\.MANUF_MESTRAILER_HPLJ4000TN.users.wap.sf.usra.ahp

Microsoft products and even old CC mail prints fine to it.

Is this with IM development ot with exes created with IM? Is it only on
printers with long names, i.e. > 32 characters?
What's the exact error message?

Terry;

This happens in IM development. It only crashes when I select a new printer
through printer setup (I select the printer and press 'OK', then it
crashses). Here is the message.

Have you tried reinstalling IM, or upgrading to 6.5, freely available from
https://support.sybase.com/esd/pb_win_maint_65.html

I'm passing this on to tech support as well.

Yes, I do have 6.5 installed. I did do a re-install. I think it is something
to do with the network addresses for the printers. As I said before, this
started happening after the network guys came in and reinstalled my printers
to point to new network locations.

Terry;

I figured it out. It was what I suspected all along. Too long of a network
path. Working with the Novell Admin we found a short path to the queue and
that worked.

Thanx for you help. By the way the path is now (if you want to count chars)
:

\\Ahpnet\.SFPR024.users.wap.sf.usra.ahp (38 chars)

instead of

\\Ahpnet\.MANUF_MESTRAILER_HPLJ4000TN.users.wap.sf.usra.ahp (60 chars)

using the actual queue name instead of the alias.
