I am attempting to convert a large number of reports and users from qmf to
im 5. We have all found that using the raw sql feature under database admin
is much easier for us to do quickly. The problem is how do we create a
report using the raw sql we have written. There does not seem to be a way
to use the completed sql file. Also, can the sql files be a part of the
'pibble'?

Connect to the database.
Go into the Report painter.
New
Pick "SQL Select" in the "New report" dialog
Pick whatever style you want (tabular/grid) and click OK.
The "Select Tables" dialog will appear.
Cancel out of this dialog (hit escape)
Pick Design/Convert to syntax from the menu.
Paste in your generic sql. (no semi colon)
select emp_id from employee (example)
Select Design/Convert to Graphics from the menu or leave the datawindow
in syntax mode.

You could also leave the datawindow in "syntax mode".

Here's a sneaky trick that will work for you.

1. Bring up your sql statement in a win based text editor.
2. Mark and copy it to the clipboard.
In IM
1.Begin a New Report.
2.Pick SQL Select for a data source and the presentation style that fits your
need.
3.When presented with a list of tables pick any one
4. Select any column
5.From the Design menu pick convert to syntax
6.Highlight the sql presented
7.Paste yours in from the clipboard ontop of the nonesense sql
8.From the design menu.Convert to graphics (you can also remain in syntax
format)
9. Voila! A working sql statement in the report
10. Improve the presentation as needed
