You didn't understand Phil's question (which was actually mine but we were
on his pc). Once you select more than one column (or compute field), you
cannot do any formatting whatsoever, whether it's from a toolbar or by
properties.

I think I did understand your question. I am using IM 5.5.03. I just tried
an example where I selected a text object, computed object, and a column,
all from different bands, and I was able to change them all to a 14-pt. font
size by using the font toolbar. I can also change the foreground color of
all of them at the same time by using the drop-down button for color. So, I
am saying that any property that can be changed by using the toolbar will
work if you have muliple objects selected.
