We have ASE 12.0 on Win NT 4.0 (SP 6).

At times, the Sybase SQL Server shuts down abruptly giving a single error
message as shown below:

00:00000:00000:2001/02/23 19:44:42.06 kernel FATAL: NULL Pss on
STACK_OVERFLOW

This happens once in three-four months. Restarting/Shutting the server
again doesnt give any more errors for stack overflow.

Can anyone give any possible explanation/solution?

Thanks in advance

I fixed a problem with exactly this symptom early last year, the fix will be
in any of the latest ESD's for 12.0.

cheers,
