Hi,

Does anyone know what the following error message means and what causes
it?

Open Client Error: ct_cmd_drop(): user api layer: external error: This
routine can be called only if the command structure is idle.

I have some queries that were running fine in wisql. But after I
shrinked the memory allocated to that Sybase server, and put the
patch7305 on Sybase 11, these queries will cause error message as above
when run them in wisql? Is it because there is not enough memory? I
notice that if I run a query returning a large result set in wisql
against my other Sybase 11 server, the above error message occurred
too.

Any info will be very appreciated. Thank!

Mary

WISQ and SqlAdvantage are not production quality tools. They both have
a 64k limitation on text returned from a query.

Try switching to Open Client 11. It has a new tool called SQL Advantage
that is less limited than Wisql (it CAN, for instance, handle result
sets > 32K)
