We are currently migrating to Adaptive Server 11.5 with about 100
clients. Idealing I don't want to go to every machine and run the
client install. I just want the dll's, any environment varibles setup
with the installation of the application. We are currently using PB 5.0
with installbuilder. I would like to user installbuilder to do the
installation of the ct-lib dll's and anything else I need.

Now the question: Does anyone have a list of what needs to be set up on
each client for sybase client. I'm going to use a common directory on
S:\Sybase to store anything common for all machines ( dll's, ini's,
cfg's).

Marty,
For the PC, you need to set:
SYBASE environment variable (S:\SYBASE)
PATH environment to include S:\SYBASE\DLL

That's about it. So, with a central Open Client environment,
you then can get people working through that one installation
path via these changes above. Of course, any change to the
one directory affects everyone, but it should be fine. Also,
you should be able to setup this directory as Read Only so
that nobody clobbers it.

I assume you'd be doing the Client install up to S:\SYBASE
from your PC. Once done, go to someone else's PC, edit their
System environment and try an application from the S:\SYBASE\BIN
directory, like ISQL. If that works, it should work fine for PB.

Also, one issue is this - the version of Open Client that
ships with ASE 11.5.0 (Purple box) is 11.1 - you may want to get
the later EBF of that called 11.1.1 from Sybase Tech Support
and install that into your S:\SYBASE directory.

Give it a try and let us know how it goes.
