Dear All,
I tried to assign a string value to a computed field, but an error
message saying "Error accessing external object property ...". I would like
to know how to assign a string value to computed field in a program.

Thanks in advance
Joe

Chris;

I believe you can use the following...

string ls_Expression

ls_Expression = 'Test'
dw_1.Object.c_test.Expression = ls_Expression

Austin

You cannot assign values to computed fields that are painted in the DW
painter, directly. A computed field always carries the result of an
expression.

If you want to store values outside columns that are in the database, you
should either use an external datawindow (has no DB relation) or add
computed fields in your SQL statement. You'll get something like.

select id, name, '' as tempfield from customers

In the DW you'll get 3 colukns id, name and tempfield. You can store values
in tempfield like you would in id and name.
