I have tried to use close function in the retrieveend event but it fails (it
doesn't give me any error when I compile simply return -1 and it doesn't
close the window at runtime)

p.s. I use PB6.5

Can you post a code snippit? Any other info that might be helpful? For
instance, are you closing the window that contains the datawindow you are
scripting? If not, is the window you are closing a response window? Any
thing else you might think is relevant?

Do you have anything in your CloseQuery or Close events? If you add a
MessageBox to the beginning of your CloseQuery event, do you see it? Have
you tried posting a custom event or function on the parent that closes the
parent window?

I've tried to put the close function into a user window's event and then to
call this event from datawindow's retrieveend but at runtime occur an error
"null object".

So.... w_window contains dw_1. w_window has a custom event called ue_close.
The RetrieveEnd event of dw_1 has this code:
PARENT.EVENT ue_close ()

And the ue_close event has:
Close (THIS)

Is that about how it looks? If so, then this should be working just fine,
and I would suggest throwing a bunch of messageboxes in there or running
through the debugger. Also, try doing a full rebuild and optimizing your
PBLs. (Make a backup first.) It may not help, but it sure won't hurt.
