Hi,

Does anyone have ever coded a visual object to simulate the XP
commandbutton?

If so, would it be better to do it with a custom visual, using a
roundrectangle or with a picture object?

Yes, we have some users that want to have the XP look in their applications,
so it could be an option for those users (we already did this for a couple
of color settings, etc.). We don't follow every Microsoft standards.

You probably can achieve something close to picture that Roy attached by
using these APIs:
CreateRoundRectRgn, SetWindowRgn, FrameRgn and a whole bunch of auxillary
ones from GDI32.DLL, but you still will have problems with focus rectangle
rendering.
Is this worth the trouble - I doubt it.

I agree -- just migrate those folks to XP and be done with it.

This one was done using a PBNI wrapper around an MFC class I found in
codeproject.com. If you need this effect in earlier versions then 9.0, there
are a couple of ActiveX controls out there that provide this functionality.

Personally, I don't know what one needs this for -- you either run on XP and
get the XP effects or you run on NT/2000 and stick with the gray #D
standard.

Granted, running a PB app on XP needs a bit work with manifest files, and
datawindows are a whole different story.

I did this as a proof-of-concept, nothing else.
