There is no Win32 API function for this low-level stuff. There may be
vendor-specific APIs, or you'll have to resort to assembly code in a DLL.

If you are using (or intend to use) PowerBuilder 9.0, I have a PBX (PBNI
extension) that will retrieve a lot of CPU information (including serial
#) -- take a look at
http://www.teamsybase.com/roy.kiesler/downloads/powerpack.zip.

Apologies for the URL -- the correct one is
http://www.teamsybase.com/roy.kiesler/downloads/PBNIPowerPack.zip

You can take a look at the underlying C++ and assembly code and try to
re-compile into a DLL that you can access with local external functions.

And how can you retrieve this with a PBNIx if there is no API function for
this ? That might seem obvious but I don't understand (well I didn't look at
PB9 yet)...

Using embedded assembly code in the DLL functions. Take a look at the code
example if you're interested

You should be able to take the C++ source code and create your own DLL from
it with minor changes. As for the PB demo app, you should be able to look at
the PBLs in the library painter and export the objects, but all it is is a
simple demo, the hard work is done by the C++ code.

The C++ code is in a separate .zip file within the PBNIPowerPack.zip
