We are calling Sybase procedure from PowerJ.
While we tested the procedure from SQL Advantage the procedure was error

free and functionally correct. However while calling the same from the
PowerJ, we get the error:

Exception in SQLStoredProcedure. P_BGJOB_LOOKUP
com.sybase.jdbc.SybSQLException: Stored procedure 'P_BGJOB_LOOKUP' may
be
run only in unchained transaction mode. The 'SET CHAINED OFF' command
will cause
the current session to use unchained transaction mode.

We tried using SET CHAINED OFF commad but without success.

We suspect that this may be due to JDBC. Any resolutions would be
welcome.

Please Help.

Thanks

Based on the feedback I received for this post in the database discussion
group, I did try to set the "Auto Commit" to True. The error was resolved
but I am unable to perform a rollback from the PowerJ screen.

I need the Rollback and hence I cannot set Auto commit to true.

Please help

Thanks in advance.

Please post your question in the PowerJ newsgroup. jConnect does not
manipulate the transaction mode (chained/unchained) unless you do it
yourself via setAutoCommit().

It's not really a PowerJ problem or a jConnect problem.
The basic problem is that the stored procedure isn't
configured to run in chained mode. You need to configure
the stored procedure so that it can run in chained mode.
PowerJ doesn't do anything with the chained mode, other
than indirectly affecting it by calling jConnect's setAutoCommit
function.
