Hi,

I have a problem logging in remotely to Sybase 11.9.2 server on NT. I can
connect ok on Sybase Central to both servers but when l try to isql into
them using DOS window, l get error message:

DB-Library: Unable to connect: SQL Server is unavailable or does not exist.
specified SQL server not found.
Net-Library error 2: ConnectionOpen (CreateFile())

I can ping the servers using DSedit but not from DOS prompt because this
has been disabled by the NT administrator for remote log in.

Can anyone please help ??

you should check your sql.ini (%sybase%\ini\sql.ini) for responding
corresponding section ...
example:

[your_server]
master=TCP,some.dbserver.com,port
query=TCP,some.dbserver.com,port

Hi,

I have checked this but still cannot connect on DOS. My sql.ini contains
the names of the servers l am trying to log into. The host file on my
machine has the list of the NT machines the Sybase servers are on. I just
installed DBArtisan and l registered the servers ok on that app.
