i have bcped a file from sybase 11.0, nt3.51. when i try to bcp this
file to nt 4.0, ase 1.1.5.1, i get the error :
msg 2402, error converting client char into server char.
this happens on two files. both of these files came from db2, in which
there was a timestamp. although, i had defined these fields as char(26)
in the sybase 11.0 tables, and there was no problem with the bcp then.
can someone tell me what kind of conversion i need to load these tables?
thanks lots,
kathryn

Kathryn,

Check the client charset and the server charsets. You get this error any
time the client charset does not match any of the server charsets.

Kathryn,

This is how you check charsets:
1. client - locales.dat [nt] - default
2. server - syconfig.exe - Configure Adaptive Server - Language - Character Set

Please let me know how it works,

Hi,

Could you tell us the which ASE system datatype you want the db2
timestamp column to be? And please show an example of how a db2 timestamp
looks like.

Cheers,
Sammy Lau

i was trying for the same datatype as i had in sybase 11.0, char(26).
an example of a db2 timestamp looks like:
1996-07-16-16.01.45.020419

thanks for your help.
