I have downloaded the evaluation version of ASE 11.9.2 for Windows NT,
and I can't seem to find the SQL Remote files (ssremote.exe, etc). Can
anyone tell me where to find them, or if I need to download it
separately (and if so from where)? Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

Hi Larry,

I think it comes with the SQL Anywhere eval copy.

AnaMarie,

Thanks for your response.

I also have the Adaptive Server Anywhere eval, which does come with SQL
Remote for ASA (dbremote.exe, etc). But it does not have the SQL Remote
stuff for ASE. Any ideas where/how I can get it?

Thanks much,

-Larry

Uhhhh ... maybe you could give us an idea of what you're trying to do
... why I say this ...

SQL Remote is a component of the ASA product line, i.e., this is the
replication component of ASA.

ASE, however, does not have it's own 'replication component'. If you
want to use replication with ASE you'll either have to get the
Replication Server product (separate from ASE) ... which also comes with
... ummmm ... plug-in's (?) for using Replication Server with various
databases, including ASA.

If you want to get into more techincal details I'd suggest you post some
additional info about what you want to do and/or call your local Sybase
sales/tech rep.

I'm trying to set up replication - using SQL Remote - between ASA and ASE.
This is definitely feasible, according to many documents on the Sybase site.
There is a SQL Remote component for ASE, which contains, at the very least,
the ssremote.exe and ssxtract.exe programs for Windows NT. This particular
scenario does not lend itself well to Rep Server, which I've worked with
extensively on Solaris for larger projects. I understand there is a LTM for
ASA, but that is not what I need. I need to use SQL Remote for replication.

My problem seems to be that the eval of ASE does not come with the SQL Remote
components. I know that the licensed product (on CD) does. But I need to
evaluate my architecture before purchasing. I have yet to hear back from
Sybase on this...

Thanks,
-Larry
