Is there a way to recover from a "Timeslice -500, current process infected"
error without dropping the db and reloading from backup?

The sql server was not responding after the error message showed up in the
errorlog, so I attempted to stop the sql server. It seemed to close down
okay, so I rebooted the NT box on which it was running. When Sybase came
back up, it could not recover one particular database and the only option I
knew was to dbcc dbrepair (. . .,dropdb) to drop the database, recreate it,
and reload from backup.

NT 4.0 OS, ASE 11.9.2 SWR 8613

Thanks in advance for your help.

Can you explain what was happening when the timeslice occurred?
Was that particular database online and in use?

The latest EBF takes the version up to ASE 11.9.2.4. You may want to
check its coverletter to see if the bug has been identified and fixed.
If so, I would recommend downloading the EBF and installing it.
