When launching WISQL we get the following to error messages

com_err_init() failed, and
cm_err_init() failed

Again, we are using s/w downloaded from the SYBASE site.

Also, how can we enter logins with passwords less than 6
characters in length (or even no passwords)?

Thank you.

1. If you have downloaded ASE 11.9.2, then there is no WISQL.
WISQL is a 10.0.4 OC utility.
For 11.1.1 there is SQL Advantage.

2. Officially, there is no way to enter passwords with less than 6
characters.
Unsupported, you can play with the upgrade version by setting it back to
4.9.2,
do the sp_addlogin, then reset the upgrade version.
Not a good idea to do this in production.

As I stated before: I downloaded the ASE_Demo_Client.zip as indicated by
Steve Brogden, SYBASE sales representative. WISQL was part of this setup,
SQL Advantage was not. Could you indicate, please, where from to download
the SYBASE client that contains SQL Advantage. Thank you.

Well, you stated before you have downloaded ASE 11.9.2 (demo).
That comes with 11.1.1 OC.
Why do you need the other client piece?

When I said that I downloaded the ASE 11.9.2 it was based on the information
provided by Steve Brogden. If it proved to be wrong information, what can I
say? The situation remains that we still need to evaluate the SYBASE ASE in
order to decide if we can support it.

Everything being said, could you provide us with the information on how to
download what we need or do I have to ask to Steve for this?
