I am attempting to BCP several files into Adaptive Server for NT
11.9.2.1 with EBF 8741. While most of the files work fine, the larger
ones simply stop giving the following error:

#@ Row 256451: CTLIB Message: - L5/03/S5/N7/5/0:
ct_send passthru():network packet layer: internal net library error:
Net-library operation terminated due to disconnect

The row number where to process stops varies with each run. I have
tried recreating the original bcp file in both -c and -n formats and it
had no effect.

Software version:Adaptive Server Enterprise/11.9.2.1/1108/P/SWR 8741 ESD
4/NT (IX86)/OS 3.51,4.0/FBU/Wed Dec 01 12:01:38 1999

Could you please tell me how many language are contain in your data?

Also, please tell me which character set are you using of the source and
destination server.

One more thing, please show me your export and import command for easy
tracing.

How long (time wise) do your various bcp's take to complete? Is the
'problem' bcp the longest running of the group? Does it bomb at/near
the same time on each run?

I'm wondering if there's some sort of network time-out parameter that
you're running into? (*shrug* I don't work with NT much so this is
just a stab in the dark!! :-)

If you break the source file up into smaller chunks ... do the
individual chunks get loaded ok?

Are you bcp'ing into an empty table each time ... or a table that
already has some rows in it?

Are you using the batch option with bcp? And could someone in the
database be accessing the table at the same time? (Just wondering if
your bcp is becoming blocked/timed-out by another process?)

Are there any indices on the table?

Try running your tests against a 'blank' table, i.e., no indices, no
data.

Try breaking your source file into smaller chunks and loading them on at
a time.

Also make sure no one else is trying to access the same table during the
bcp.

The idea here is to start out with as 'basic' a table as we can and then
build up from there ... one step at a time (e.g., start with a small(er)
source file into a 'blank' table, go to larger source file(s), add an
index if the blank table works, leave rows if the index'd table works,
etc.).
