ASE listens to whatever port was specified during the installation of
the
ASE. The port number is not hardcoded. There is a utility program
called
DSEDIT that is part of the ASE installation that you can use to find out

and change the port number.

What is the default port ? The installation didnt ask me what I want to put
into it.

It defaults to 4000 on Solaris systems, I don't know about NT. Suggest you use

the dsedit utility to see what it actually is on your system.

Default on NT is 5000 for SQL Server, 5001 for Backup server, 5002 Monitor
Server, 5003 for Historical Server, and 5004 for XP Server.
