ok. I am bcp'ing in a 900,000 record text file from a NT 4 workstation
with: Sybase CTISQL Utility/12.0/P/PC Intel/1/OPT/Mon Oct 04 15:54:26
1999 to a ASE 12.0 (NT) server with: Adaptive Server
Enterprise/12.0/P/SWR 8866 ESD 2/NT (IX86)/OS 4.0/1581/32bit/OPT/Tue Jan
25 21:28:48 2000. My bcp is: Sybase CTBCP Utility/12.0/P/PC
Intel/1/OPT/Sun Sep 26 05:34:51 1999

When I try to do this:

bcp db.dbo.fred in fred.txt -Ufred -Ppassword -Sfred -c

my bcp goes hunky dory until I get to:
253000 rows sent to SQL Server.

that's the last row (of a 900,000+ text file) bcp'd in. I then get
this:
CTLIB Message: - L5/O3/S5/N7/5/0:
ct_sendpassthru(): network packet layer: internal net library error:
Net-Library
operation terminated due to disconnect

I've got a Sybase tech support case on this that's been open since
October 1999. Anybody have any insight on this?

workaround found:

bcp db.dbo.fred in fred.txt -Ufred -Ppassword -Sfred -c -F1 -L100000

I can do 100,000 records at a time.

Chuck,

try breaking it up into batches (-b option) of 1000, and see what
happens....

I've never seen that error before. You can also try going back to 11.1.1 or
10.0.4 of bcp, provided you aren't bcp'ing into partitioned tables....

HTH,
Peter
