     I hope someone can help:

I am trying to add a second engine to my 11.9.x server.

I used the sp_configure "max online engine", 2

    This worked fine.

    However,

When I restart the server, the server does not restart.

I receive two errors in my server errorlog:

             1)  NT operating system error 2 in module
'e:\rel19x\porttree\svr\sql\generic\ksource\strmio\n_winsock.c' at line 3457:  The system
                   cannot find the file specified.

(The funny thing here is e: is the server CD Rom drive)

            This is followed by:

              2) kernel  nl_connect: Could not connect to site 'Server Name_XP',  socket 3.

I hope someone can help.  You can e-mail me at:   pcusato@lydall.com

Do you have at least 2 CPUs on your NT box ? If you have just one, you shouldn't start two engines.
As for the "e:" drive message, this seems just a reference to a source file location the software was originally compiled with, and is not related to your "e:" drive.
Isn't the XP message also present when you start the server normally (with one engine) ?

HTH,

Rob
