Since a few days, it's not possible to access forums.sybase.com using tin.

If I start tin, it now asks for authentication. This was not the case in the
past.

Does anyone know what's causing this ?

Thanks,
Luc.

You need authentication to reach some of the private forums (i.e.,
betas). If you don't provide it, you'll just see the public ones. It
should work without authentication.

What is tin?

No, I didn't subscribe to beta's, but you pointed me in the right
direction. I was subscribed to some of the old powersoft newsgroups
and I think that some password has been put on them recently.

I deleted the entries in my resource file and everything is ok now!

From the man-page:

Tin is a full-screen easy to use Netnews reader. It can read
news locally (i.e., /var/spool/news) or remotely (rtin or
tin -r option) via a NNTP (Network News Transport Protocol)
server. It will automatically utilize NOV (News OVerview)
style index files if available locally or via the NNTP XOVER
command.

I have a secure shell account and I'm using it to read news via tin
because then I have the same history list (read/unread messages)
wherever I login from.

Thanks,
Luc.
