I'm confused. Is Sybmail required for use of XP Server? We don't currently
have mail services set up on all of our servers and I'm not quite sure what
to make of the documentation in the "Configuring Sybase Adaptive Server
Enterprise" book. Has anyone else done this?

I'm quite confused as to what the question exactly is.
But the short answer is: You don't need Sybmail for XP Server to run.
Only a subset of the XP Server commands are related to Sybmail.
The other ones, like xp_cmdshell, go directly to the OS.

Hope this helps,
