Hi there,
I have installed the following softwares
1.Microsoft Syn 3.6
2.MS pocket PC Emulator 2002.
3.Pocket Powerbuilder 1.0
In the same order as mentioned.

When i deploy the sample app ,Iam able to view the exe & pbd
in the file Explorer application in Emulator but not the PB
VM files due to which when i click the exe to run it gives
"LoadLibrary Failed for VMCE" error.
How do i check whether PB VM is loaded or not ?
If it is not loaded then how do i load it. I got the
following statement from PPB release bulltein, but iam not
able to follow what it mean by "Shared folders" in emulator.

Here he talks about Pocket PC 2003 i guess it is same for
Pocket PC 2002 as well.

"You can, however, deploy Pocket PowerBuilder applications
to the Pocket PC 2003 emulator by copying generated files
using the Pocket PC 2003 folder sharing feature. You can
install the Pocket PowerBuilder VM in the emulator by
copying the Pocket PowerBuilder.x86.CAB file from the Pocket
PowerBuilder\WinCE directory to the shared folder, then
clicking the CAB file in the emulator’s File Explorer."

Thanks in advance.
Ron

Ron,
Many questions, and I'm just gathering my stuff to leave
for TechWave...

The comments about the "shared folder" are for the
PPC-2003 emulator. This makes a few things easier than
the PPC-2002 version, like copying files are a bit easier (but
not as easy as the actual device !)

The error:
>"LoadLibrary Failed for VMCE" error.
Is typically because the PKVM10u.DLL was not
found in the \WINDOWS directory in the emulator.

The often happens when the emulator is shut-down and
you did not "Save Emulator State" (of course, sometimes
it clears the state even though you said "save").
You can see, by opening the emulator's "PocketExplorer" and
seeing if _any_ "PKxxxxx.DLL" files are \WINDOWS.

If not, just copy the PPB CAB file back to the emulator and
re-install (actually easier to do than explain).

I hope this helped,
Reed Shilts

Ron, I got this extract from PPB Readme File.....

If you are running a Windows CE emulator, copy the correct CAB file from the
Pocket PowerBuilder WinCE subdirectory to the Windows directory for the
emulator, then run the CAB file from the emulator.

a.. For the Pocket PC 2000 emulator, copy and run the Pocket
PowerBuilder.em86.cab file

b.. For the Pocket PC 2002 emulator, copy and run the Pocket
PowerBuilder.x86.cab file

HTH

Ron;

Also, in the 2002 Emulator, when you close it, make sure you do a SAVE!

There's a bit more detail in the installation guide, in the section "Copying
Files to a device or emulator":
http://sybooks.sybase.com/ppbp0100e.html

CAB files can be copied to any directory - they "evaporate" when you click to
install them.
