In all objects that I try to use the function painter, the delete parameter
option is usually disabled, both on new and existing functions.

I notice this primarily when I want to add a new function that takes no
arguments.

Am I missing something or is this a bug?

I can work around this by choosing the "edit source" option and editing the
function prototype, but the purpose of the painter is to allow the developer
to avoid all this detail.

Regarding the following post, I forgot to mention that I am using PB Version
9.0 Build 5507 with the patch dated 3/27/2003 (provided to fix CR 311937).

This appears to be an UI bug. To workaround the problem (at least in PB8),
go to the Argument Name column of the parameter you want to delete. This
should enable the Delete option.

Yes, thanks, this seems to work as long as the "Argument Name" column has
focus. If you right click on the column before it has focus, the "delete
parameter" option is still disabled. This means you must first click on the
column or tab to it before you can right click and see the "delete
parameter" option enabled. It would be nice to make this more user
friendly, since deleting arguments in a function is not all that uncommon.
Allowing the user to right click on an argument row to enable the "delete
parameter" option would be much easier and clearer.

Chris, this is NOT a bug in the UI, but a bug fix.
There was a whole thread on it in .futures_discussion.

Previously the Delete option on the context menu was ALWAYS
enabled, causing people to inadvertantly delete whole
scripts...
