Hello,

I'm running Sybase Adaptive Server Anywhere Network Server Version
8.0.2.4122 on WINXP and WIN2K

I frequently am getting the following error message:

No unique index or primary key for table "table_such_and_such".

This table definitely has a unique index. This table does not have a
primary key, nor does any of the other 250 tables, but I only get this error
on a small subset of my tables. Indeed, all the tables in said subset all
have unique indexes.

Can anybody shed some light on this error and what to do.

If your table "table_such_and_such" has a unique index defined, this message
is being reported incorrectly. Please considered submitting this with a
sample db that shows the problem as described below.

Does the index allow nulls? If so, the index is not sufficient for the
server to use as a replacement for a primary key. The warning is not given
for very small tables, and only appears if an insert/update/delete on the
table is performed.

Whitepapers, TechDocs, bug fixes are all available through the iAnywhere

Yes, my indexes, errantly, allow nulls. Does this impact performance?

Yes, it does impact performance. Updates and deletes on the table will
result in all column values being logged in the transaction log, not just
those in the index.

If you're connecting through ODBC, be sure that the ODBC data source has the
option checked for "Microsoft applications (Keys in SQLStatistics)."
