Hi,

I am running a 6.04 database and have encountered some major corruption,
which I have been unable to rectify with a database rebuild.

The db consists of around 200 tables and is continually going down with
'assertion failed 100305 Invalid index page encountered during an index
scan'

The database cannnot be unloaded, due to this error. After further
investigation, it was clear that the issue was with around 50 tables all of
which had a foreign keys back to a single table, every time these foreign
keys were referenced the database goes down with the assertion error.
dbvalid causes the assertion when scanning these tables.

I have attemped to drop all the problem foreign keys and recreate them, but
I have an issue with one particular table whereby I cannnot get the foreign
key to delete, it just executes forever, but does not crash).

Unfortunately I was only notified of this corruption 4 weeks after the
initial problem, and so do not have a valid backup to restore to.

Can anyone out there come up with a suggestion of a way of repairing this. I
am advised version 6 is no longer supported, so that limits my options.

Help would be greatly appreciated

Simon Ogden

Thanks Chris, but I've already read that document a hundred times, and most
of the time it can give a solution, but on this occasion it does not, I need
to know whether there could be any way of saving this system, or to just cut
my losses

When was the last good backup? Do you have transaction log(s) since that
time?

You can also consider a database salvage attempt... although salvageability
is never guananteed...

Hi,

This is an issue I have inherited, unfortunately, I have no valid backup and
or log files in order to restore the system, I need a way, if possible, of
salvaging the current database.
