I muddled through it and actually got it working with some
velcro. Here are issues I ran into. First of all ASA 7.0
doesnt have a ml_subscription table. You must create that
yourself, just grab the code out of one of the scripts.
Create it and it works fine.

The other I am confused about, when using the wizard to
create the ppb link objects there is a window that asks for
the dsn file name and you select from a list. In my case it
creates an entry called 'mobile_client'. In the uf_runsync
function of nvo_plan_sync a connection string is built from
that:

connect_string = " -c ~"dsn=" + is_ce_dsn +"~""

however that isnt enough, I had to insert a line to add the
uid and pwd:

connect_string = " -c
~"dsn=mobile_client;uid=dba;pwd=sql;~""

before it would connect. Where can I set the uid and pwd in
the wizard?

Lastly in Sybase Central when you are setting up users for
mobilink. If you set a password for the user, it seems to
be ignored. If you open the user properties again 'no
password' is selected. However when you start the syncing
by calling

gf_plan_sync('hp2215','') the blank password does not work,
you must include the password for the database
gf_plan_sync('hp2215','sql') and then mobilink works like a
champ. I am not sure why you cant change the password on
the mobilink user in Sybase Central and if its set to no
password why do you have to include the database password to
make it work?

Anyone else have similar issues?

I take it you are using ASA 7.x as the consolidated database and 8.x on
the CE device?

You don't just go and create the ml_subscription table, there are other
changes that you should have.

In the 8.0.2 docs you should be reading:

What's New in SQL Anywhere Studio
12. Upgrading Software and Databases
Upgrading MobiLink

Specifically:

What's New in SQL Anywhere Studio
12. Upgrading Software and Databases
Upgrading MobiLink
Upgrading your consolidated database

Which tells you to run dbupgrad, or dbunload/reload.

You should be able to set that in the DSN itself.

Not sure on this one.
The utility dbmluser.exe is used to set and change passwords. It hashes
these passwords so that they are not visible in the ML system tables.
