I run ADS 5.7, Delphi 5 and I set CDX data type to get the DBFs. I execute
the query 'Select * from (some DBF)' and it updates the DBF's date/time. I
want to get that query executed but not the date/time changed. Does anybody
know how to do this ? Thanks !

Why are you concerned with the DOS date/time on a file? Perhaps there is
another way to solve whichever problem you are having, without relying on
file date/time stamps.

The point is that folder can be or can not be read-only; it depends upon
which users accesses it, and when the app tries to update the DBF date/time
... fails. Beside, my question is: why a query that returns data (and does
not does any kind of update) freshes up the file's date/time.

Jose,

I looked in the NG archives and found a couple references to this, but no
solution. As far as Brad Schmidt, chief engineer of ADS is concerned, this
should not happen. You might write to advantage@extendsys.com and see what
tech support has to say. Tell them that you've discussed this on the
newsgroup and no one had any ideas.

It could happen if he uses Local Server. See KB REF#000630-1056.

Jose,

E-mails sent directly to me will not get replied to. We have a tech support
department to handle issues like this.

If you are using ADS and have not updated a table, I don't believe we ever
write to the table which would cause the file's datestamp to get updated. I
recommend you send a re-creation of your problem to your Advantage tech
support provider so it can be looked into.
